 Once everyone has entered the cave, Rashkae seals the entrance with the last tiny bit of magic he has. A stone covering the entrance transforms from ordinary grey to shimmering gold, a watchdog for the group.

He watches as his team of Mages is taken care of by the others: DOL healing; Mischa and Incarnation enjoying the attention; Calliope sleeping soundly. They are done. They are safe. They will live to see another day without consequence or challenge to their lives. They've overcome. Rashkae can't help but smile.

But his joy is suddenly overwhelmed by his fatigue. As he walks, still carrying Sirith, to a quiet corner, he stumbles slightly, exhuasted. Finally, he reaches a dark, quiet corner in the cavern. He sets Sirith down, and smiles into her deep blue eyes. She whispers to him, almost undecipherable; he whispers back. Yes, we did. You were remarkable.

He says no more, because he curls up protectively around Sirith's nearly-unconscious form, placing his golden head across her tawny neck. His amber eyes glow before he closes them, and peaceful darkness envelops him as he sleeps.
