Silent Maiden

Based On True Events

I once knew a young lady
Who always sat in the back row
In all of her classes;
Away from those she feared.

She was a quiet one.
Never spoke
Nor did she try to start a
Conversation with any one.

It was one lunch time
That I found her in the library
Sitting in a lonely corner
With crystal tears

Slowly running down
Her pale face.
The pain that dwelled
Deep inside of her

Could be seen from afar
And told no lie
About the suffering that
Young lady was going through.

Like many,
Who just looked at her
With a puzzled look
Then just carelessly walk away,

I took the time
To sit by her side as she
Told me her side of the story.
Years of struggle was revealed

Yet many tears and scars
Were formed throughout
Her lifetime.
Abandoned as a child

And adopted to a heartless women
Who earned a living by working in
Smoke filled club areas
And with pleasure hungry men.

Every so often now,
When she knows she is safe
From those she fears,
The young lady comes and slowly

Starts making friends
With her fellow classmates,
Trying her best to forget
About her dim past.
