Bits and Pieces

Got this new TV
---- PLASMA
spun the red right out
everything is clear now
even our future

But, that short guy
they call Prince
he makes his guitar talk
and somehow it's bigger
than football

I played
my goal
hit hard

and run like a deer

...................in the end it was all about being a boy

This music thing
it's much deeper
it's in the same place
where religion resides

...................and those saints go marchin' in

I was as loud as Detroit
when I was a kid
street tough

ready to defend
everything that meant nothing
but I learned of knaves
and I learned more

life is just an attitude
it has nothing to do
with how smart you are

in the end smart is
the man who knows himself

Here we are now
me and you
you and I

proper; improper
being nice

then later thinking about
being naked

we were always like that
we got along great
when our skin touched

I'm looking for some higher plane
if it sounds arrogant
I apologize

maybe, it would be better if I said
I was looking for someone
who wasn't looking for me

behind some girl
in the shadows
with a luring smile
and the eyes
of a temptress

guarding a warm soul
