Vernon Dent was memorable from his first appearance as a man dining in a restaurant in Half Shot Shooters (1936). He chases one hungry dog and three hungry Stooges down the street, ending up in front of an Army Recruiting station. There he gets even with the boys, tricking them into re-enlisting.

Vernon Dent was, I believe, the most prolific of the Stooges supporting sidekicks, and always did a great job. He will live on as Professor Quackenbush in Half-Wits Holiday (1947).

Ted Lorch was superb in military roles in both Uncivil Warriors (1935) and Goofs and Saddles (1937). He also took one on the chin as Professor Sedletz in Half-Wits Holiday (1947).

Stanley Blystone is unforgettable as the bullying Sgt. MacGillicuddy of Half Shot Shooters (1936). The boys get the best of the Sarge for awhile, but in the end he leaves nothing behind except six smoking shoes!

Bud Jamison was with the Stooges from the very beginning in Woman Haters (1934). I first noticed him as the defense attorney in Disorder in the Court (1936). As Officer Kelly in A Plumbing We Will Go (1940) he tries to nail the boys for stealing chickens, and later spots them fishing for freckled trout from an aquarium!
