Curly was so great with his energy and the childlike persona. He could be so silly, he could make you laugh your tail off. He was the powerhouse of the trio.

Disorder in the Court (1936)

It's chaos in the courtroom as dancer Gail Tempest (Suzanne Kaaren) is on trial for the murder of Kirk Robin ("Who Killed Kirk Robin?") at the Blackbottom Cafe. The Stooges are musicians and witnesses in her defense.

A classic of slapstick and clever dialogue. Memorable bits include Curly being sworn in on the witness stand ("Take off your hat"), the chewing gum, the "tarantula", the bird, and the fire hose.

Back in the pre-internet days I didn't know the name of the lovely actress who played Gail Tempest. It's not listed in the credits, and most movie books back then only covered feature length films. I was surprised when I learned it was Suzanne Kaaren because I had seen her before in the low-budget Bela Lugosi film The Devil Bat (1941) but never made the connection.

Tim
