Subject: Favorite Stooges shorts with Emil Sitka

Emil's first short he worked was "Half-Wits' Holiday" in 1946, and ironically, it was the last one for Curly. I enjoyed him in all his work with the Stooges.

He is memorable as the butler in his Stooges debut in Half-Wits Holiday. He gets trampled by the trio, complete with footprints. During the big finale he gets a pie in the face, but manages to hold onto his drink serving tray, the perfect butler.

Recently I have become a fan of the sci-fi spoofs Space Ship Sappy and Outer Space Jitters, both from 1957. In Sappy, Sitka has a small role at the end as the Liars Club Emcee, while in Jitters he is memorable as Professor Jones, who accompanies the Stooges on their trip to the planet Sunev. Only the Stooges could make two shorts in one year featuring a planet that is Venus spelled backwards!

Emil Sitka became an official member of the Stooges in the early 1970s, replacing the ailing Larry Fine. There are promotional photos of Moe, Curly Joe DeRita and Emil Sitka together. However, no actual film or television projects came to fruition with this final Stooges lineup.

A Mr. Flint, the drug store owner, who accidentally gets transformed into a crying infant. In the remake, the serum transforms him into a menacing gorilla who plans to get even with the Boys! LOL.

He did a lot of slapstick as the Old Man in Horsing Around. Good preparation for his future role as one of the Stooges, lol.
