Subject: Favorite Stooges shorts with explosions

In "Listen, Judge" (1952), the boys get tangled up with a Judge and eventually get hired as kitchen help for his birthday party. He thinks they look familiar, but they avoid him.

In the main room, the Judge and his party have the cake brought out. The Judge's wife says, "Make a wish, dear."

KABOOM!!!!!!!!!

The cake explodes and everyone is covered in frosting and the Judge and his pal have an exchange:

"If this is your idea of a joke?!"

"I knew absolutely nothing about this!"

The evidence points to the boys and the Judge and his party recollect they had a run in with them in court. He pulls out a gun and the boys run for cover! LOL.

==============================================

In "They Stooge to Conga" (1943), the boys are hired to work in a home to fix a doorbell, but they don't know it's being ran by Nazi agents who plan to take over the world.

In the climax, the boys take over the radio room and are confronted by Hans and Tojo.

Hans: "So, FBI, huh?"

Curly: "No, I be Curly!"

A double combo of BOOM! SMACK! and Hans is struck senseless by the powerhouse Stooge and his men holding the dynamite, sets off a massive explosion and the room is full of smoke. When it clears, the Boys are clearly the victor and they proceed to play the music scale on the heads of their newfound captors: the Nazi agents!

Great selections, Rick, I can't think of anything to add. However, I got a wire from Sergeant MacGillicuddy indicating that his favorite boom is that final cannon blast in Half-Shot Shooters (1936).

In "Spook Louder", Professor Graves (Ted Lorch) gives the boys a device to ward off spies:

"Use this bomb. It will destroy anyone and anything."

In the end, they light it by accident when holding back the menacing spies dressed in the Halloween costumes.

Curly: "Oh, someone lit it."

Stooges: "Yahhhh!!!!!" (throws it!)

BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The explosion is set off and when the smoke clears, you can see the spies are sprawled across the fence. The Stooges boast of their victory and no sooner, do they get splattered by fast-moving pies, with the antagonistic laugh and wonder "Who threw those pies." I think the final moments in Professor Dunkfeather's office explain WHO it was ! LOL.

You recall in FG 36, the High Priest assembled a time bomb in the laboratory and that was probably the worst kind anyone could have to deal with while in flight back to the Earth!

Zarkov: "Quickly! Throw it out! In a fraction of a second, that thing will explode!" BAAMM!!
