Subject: I'm new here,where's everyone??

I've been on the Voy board for several years and just don't think about this one.
Does anyone have a good diet to follow. My blood sugars are either going UP...UP....UP or bottom out and I run for a bowl of cereal. I can't seem to get them stable. I just had a 405 a few days ago. Never seen that high on me before, and I had ate nothing!! Then this morning I was feeling shakey and it was 49.
I don't know if something like the South Beach Diet works or something else is better. Thanks for any help.
I have eye problems....Rentinopthy (cana't spell) So I don't check computer every day, but I will check back soon.
Kathy

Kathy,
Welcome! We are still really trying to get this board going. If you have any hints on how to do that, please let us know!
My numbers have been fine here lately. I just wish I could lose some weight, I know I would feel better. But I think we are all trying to lose weight! LOL!

Welcome Kathy! I think everyone is kinda busy this time of year & the board is slow. I sure hope it speeds up soon.

Dunno if I can help any with your weight loss but here are a few tips I use (I am down 57 lbs!!!)

Broil, bake or grill meats & veggies. I don't FRY anything anymore.
I invested in a George Forman grill ($59.00). I use it EVERYDAY!!!
We have salad with almost every meal. It is a great "filler upper".
Since DH was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes we don't eat pasta or potatos or chips ect..... This has helped me alot along with him!!
Wheat bread and crackers seem to stay with you longer than white (which diabetics don't need anyway :0)!!)

When I "think" I am hungry I do something else. Usually by the time I am done (folding laundry or dusting or whatever) I am not hungry. (my house is cleaner too!!!) I think sometimes we eat from boredom.
I hope a few of these tips help. Take Care!! Willow

Another suggestion, is if you think you are hungry drink some water. Sometimes you are really just thirsty.

Welcome to the group! we welcome newbies with open arms here. My doctor suggested the South Beach diet to me. I did well on the diet but it was soooo hard to stay on it. I try to follow it closely but not strict. I think that you should check with your doctor before beginning any type of diet. Especially when your numbers are so varied. Willow has great tips for dieting and she shares the most wonderful recipes. I hope you will stop by often!
