Subject: Been gone too long

I, too, have been gone too long. Just too much going on. DH hasn't been able to do yard work for 2 years so guess who has to do it. We had so much rain in the spring and early summer, I was constantly mowing, weed eating and pulling grass. Just about the time I got finished, it was time to start over. Hard work but was great for my sugar numbers--all that exercise. Then it got HOT!!! We had 11 days straight with temps over 100--all the way up to 108. This last weekend it finally rained and has cooled down. Last week I couldn't do anything and had to stay under the a/c. This week I'm back in jeans and long pants.

Went to the dr Tuesday. My A1C was 6.9 up from 6.3 6 months ago and 5.8 before that. I had also gained 6 lbs. Dr wasn't upset--he decided the stress of the last 5 months was the cause and has given me 6 months to get it back down. The stress--DH's heart attack on 2/25, double by-pass on 3/10 and gall bladder/appendix surgery on 7/23. He had started back to work on a graduated schedule before his last surgery. He finally went back Monday for 5 hrs a day this week. But he is having a lot of pain on his right side so I don't know how long he will be able to work this time. But for now, I'm really enjoying those 5 hrs.

I'm scheduled for a nuclear stress test at 6:30 Monday morning. I told my dr I have too many factors that could make me a candidate for heart problems--diabetes, weight, female, age(57) and family history. Then on Wednesday I'm having carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist.

Enough of my story--that should catch me up. Everyone drink your water and watch those numbers!! Tona
