Osborn proffered a solution that could be used as a tool for world evangelism. He even celebrated it. You may be asking what was this proffered solution? The answer is the printed page. He didn’t know that a more powerful tool was on its way coming as complete multimedia tool. That tool is the Internet. It comprises TV, Radio, Print and Telephone VOIP(Voice Over Internet Protocol). I am of the opinion that the extraordinary Technology emphasized in the prophecy at Manila is Information Technology. The Internet. It brings out vividly the points that the great evangelist T.L. Osborn published. He wrote that “through extensive travel and ministry in over fifty countries I have proven beyond doubt that one of the most effective ways to carry out the Great Commission is by means of the printed page. It has been said that the pen is mightier than the sword. This is true. Equally, true is that the pen is mightier than the human voice! He further wrote that the written word is a “printed word” that can go where the human voice cannot.” The Internet is more economical and has no passport or visa problems. It leaps language barriers and is never influenced by social prejudice. It can sail the oceans, trek the deserts and trudge the jungle footpaths of every continent on earth through PDAs and Laptops. Words cannot tell how powerful this Technology is. It can penetrate crowded cities and reach sparsely settled countrysides, entering sophisticated mansions and village cottages alike. It can tell its story in home or shop in factory or field. The Internet knows no fear and flinches in the face of no man. That’s why the Porn world are sucked into it. It never loses its temper and never retaliates in anger. It takes no note of scoffs, dears or insults. It never tires, but works 24/7/365.25 days, even while we are asleep. It is never discouraged, but tells its story over and over again. You don’t need to pray for boldness to express yourself because it helps you to say it. The Internet will deliver the same message to rich and poor, king and commander. It will speak to one as willingly as to multitudes to a multitude as readily as to one. It always catches a person in just the right mood to be receptive for it only speaks as he chooses to listen. It can be sent messages, received, listened, watched, read and studied in secret. It gets undivided attention (if not for some irritating pup-ups that needs to be dealt with using pop-up stopper, pop-up killer etc.) It speaks different languages with the help freetranslation.com, InterTran system (www.systranet.com) (www.tranexp.com) (www.jesuspc.com). The Internet is more permanent than the human voice. It never compromises and never changes its message. It continues to speak and make its message plain, long after audible words have been forgotten and their sounds has faded. It will witness and influence long after the author has died. Osborn knew about the advent of the Internet he would have blessed it with his prayers and charge the church to be a rabid evangelist of the media-the internet. He prayed that “May God grant that you, too, will become a preacher to millions through the power of the printed page” I crave your indulgence to change the phrase “printed page” to “Internet-the new media.” In over fifty countries I have never seen a person toss aside one of our gospel tracts. On the contrary, I have seen them fight over them many times when there were not enough for everyone. Millions of hands are reaching to us for these printed morsels of the bread of life –T.L. Osborn. I close with these few words: if only you know the havoc that pornography is wrecking through the Internet, you will not hesitate to embrace this new media-the Internet. Jesus is coming soon. Though Archbishop B. Idahosa has bowed out of the scene, we saw another man of God doing more fascinating things for God. He is Bishop David Oyedepo, he built a mega structure and university within a very short time not to forget mentioning Pastor E.A.Adeboye of Redeemed Christian Church of God, who by the grace of God has affected so many lives for God through the planting of many parishes and TV broadcast. But then, the goodnews is that the future holds better promises for the Church and the World. Just watch out! World evangelism before the Second Coming of Christ through the power of GNU/Linux Technology/Philosophy Using the GNU/Linux technology will make the church enter some countries that Christianity found very difficult to penetrate. Below are my strategies: 1. Adding complete Bibles and study guides as part of Operating Systems documentation, software documentation. 2. Adding complete Bible surveys, concordance and links in softwares, tips of the day, motd. 3. Introducing recycling technology as part of missionary work, as such a whole information technology of a country can be recycled with operating systems software’s that have complete Bibles included rejecting our Bible means rejecting our powerful O.S. or software. 4. Setting up an ISP that will provide free service to those running V-churches around the world. 5. Partner with Evesham.com, Jungle.com, HP, Apple, IBM, Dell etc for computers (both free computers and leased-out computers). Therefore, countries that want to accept a technological development will also be advancing with the gospel of Jesus Christ. 6. So many Christian games will be included in the O.S. 7. My operating system will definitely have versatility. 1. One that can run on disk (CD or DVD) does not require hard disk. 2. One that can run Windows like topology Linux or VMware. 3. One that can run on the Hard disk. 8. Including some songs that talks about the “Return of Christ” on the media player. 9. Chatrooms for communicating with other Christians around the world for counseling. 10. Train programmers and developers and graphic artists. 11. Train engineers, technologists. There a fever among youths all over the world about this thing called the virtual or cyber world. But i prefer to call it the virtual . I was taught in school in a physics class that we have the virtual/apparent and the real. When you dip a stick into a transparent water in a glass the stick seems to bend( that’s the virtual/apparent) on the surface but viewing it sideways you will see the real length of the stick. Should we now say that the virtual will replace the real? No way. Okey back to our main gist ,. The internet is sucking youths like crazy. Making friends online is so easy that real physical friendships in some quarters is suffering some serious set-backs. The internet is nearly becoming another religion if we are not careful. According to the editor of CHIP magazine Gowar Jaswar “there is a hidden disease creeping upon us. ‘Virtual relationships’ have become the new religion for generation I, substituting for much of real life.” He further said that, “meaningful social interaction is easily forgone in favour of vacuous, superficial electronic exchanges. Is this the new grammar of relationships?” I equally agree with Jaswar that the virtual should not in any way replace the real but it should boost the real. To also butress this fact I quote Ourchurch.com in saying that ‘people will be more lonely than they have ever been in the past’. The virtual reality is a tool for the Church because every major revival comes along with it a technological breakthrough. The Internet is a tool or platform for global evangelism. It has been rightly said that when the purpose of a thing is not known abuse becomes inevitable. Whenever persecution becomes rife in a community the Church goes underground, they fellowship in hiding. This reminds me of the book ‘Tortured for Christ’ in which the christian Church suffered untold hardships and persecution. The Internet could have greatly helped as a platform for very powerful underground Churches. Now that Church reforms is going on globally against the wish of some greedy leaders with pharisaic spirit. The Church definitely must go underground until she is strong enough to come out as a mighty global force going on forcefully to conquer. Neither will Islam sit watch her empire crumble into rumbles, She will give back a good fight to maintain her stand, this of course will usher in a very harsh time of trouble for Christians. But with the Internet every online Christian community will be a haven for such persecuted saints, praying together online, studying together, breaking bread together and preaching the Glorious Gospel online to win more converts into the Kingdom of God. With the abuse of technology one will definitely agree with Jawal when he said that ‘ a buddy is more than someone who hastily types out inane messages the moment you go online. And a relationship is more than sharing forbidden thoughts behind the protective anonymity of a fictitious nickname.’ To the unbeliever that knows not the purpose of the internet I have a good warning for you ‘ maintain real connections with real people, don’t stagger from one e-group to e-group, like a drunken reveller destined to fall on his face. ‘Virtual connections may provide for an occasional diversion, but this ephemeral mist’ says Jaswal, ‘ is not something that we can make the currency of our lives.’ The virtual world is like your thoughts a dream world, that must be connected with reality so that one will stay in touch with physical reality. I don’t see the virtual world of technology as ‘unreal’ but as a virtual reality: since people buy, steal, fornicate or masturbate from its influence. Since essoteric programming codes already exists one will definitely have to take this virtual thing seriously on the basis that some of the codes are invoked through demonic incantations for it to be powerful.What is your Church doing? Or are you still playing Church in the four walls? Actually we gather in a building to fellowship but we should not box ourselves there instead of moving with the time; just like C.H.Spurgeon said ‘ the world should not dictate to the Church the times but the Church should dictate the times to the world. Now is our time to dictate to the world, or else wicked people will keep doing wickedness and the saints will be trampled underfoot the way ‘the Dome of the rock’ has trampled Jerusalem under Islam. The fact that God provided this technology for the advancement of His Kingdom does not mean that the devil is that stupid to watch God depopulate hell through this powerful tool that is both a Radio, TV, Print Magazine, VOIP(Voice over internet protocol) Telephone, Jukebox etc. I have Ministry partners that if it were not for the Internet, the humiliations that I got in ministry would have killed me.I got my ministry license online after going through some tests now i am first among equals. By the help of God I have overtaken so many people in ministry both through the partnerships and ministry resources that I have been able to gather through the years since September 2002, I have been moving at the speed of light Technology. To God I give the Glory! Do you Know that pornography makes more money than the church online? With over 70,000 websites in 2002AD dedicated to pornography and other sex evils. Do you know that Technological know how is best tested on porn sites? Why can’t they try the Christian commnunity online with their hardwares and softwares? Because you are not there to add up to the number of Christians online. Do you know that large percentage of government staff working-hours is spent browsing porn sites in which she lost so much money of internet access to pornography in the name of company online research or information gathering? I end emphasising what C.H. Spurgeon had to say on the necessity of ministerial progress, “our ministry demands mind. I shall not insist upon ‘the enlightenment of the age’, still it is quite certain that there will yet be much more of it.” Do it now! Today will be yesterday tomorrow.
