Hi Bob -

Rick Odell (saxophone) and I (on trumpet) joined the Sir Raleighs in 1970 after we returned from a couple of months playing with another band in Evansville- then Boston. The monks had broken up in 1968 when you were in the band. In 1970 Johnny Elms, the singer and Wayne Cafferella (Southwest High graduates), on bass, reformed the band. We played as the Sir Raleighs (named after the tobacco can that Wayne's dad carried his stash in) - then were renamed "Copperhead", playing mostly in Minnesota/Illinois/Iowa/Wisconsin and recording for RCA in Chicago. After that we recorded for Capitol Records in Nashville and were renamed "Minnesoda."

Strange that you inquire. I'm almost finished with a new book about the "trip." Who were the people in the band at that time?
