Man, in rage, destroys interior of Shady Rest
Thursday, February 21, 2008
The interior of a Highway 211 tavern was largely destroyed on Wednesday by a irate man.

According to the Dyer County Sheriff's Department report, deputies arrived at the Shady Rest bar, south of Trimble, at about 6:16 p.m. to find the front two windows broken, tables turned over, broken glass on the floor, a turned over bandstand, a ripped pool table surface, a game machine damaged and several other items strewn throughout the bar.

Shawn Hood, 130 Baseline Rd., Yorkville, is in the Dyer County Jail without bond and charged with assault and vandalism.

According to witnesses, Hood walked into the bar and said "the bar is closed." When the owner told him it was not closed, Hood "went into a rage and began destroying the bar.

The estimated value of the damaged items is $3,000, said the report.

When deputies asked Hood about the damage, he said "I lost my temper and that's all I got to say."

Hood is scheduled to appear in Dyer County General Sessions Court at 10 a.m. March 6.

Shawn was upset because a record deal fell

through. He had written a country song and

thought it would do well but it flopped. It

was called," I got a full tank of gas and a

half a mind to leave".He just wanted it on

the juke box.He also heard his wife was

messing around with his "best friend" so he

went home and shot his dog!
