I'm on the same line with Stephanie about the crying of the children while being punished.
It is very esay to distinguish between the sounds at the beginning of a spanking (either the too loud-ones from a rebellious brat or some soft crying) AND the real tears from pain added to a complete submission in the body language.
I have always given the child enough to reach that "subsmission point" and then (like Stephanie) a bit beyond and yes the otk position allows that easily. By the way I think it is not wise to stop the spanking too early (especially as the child understands a loud fake crying will result in a shorter punishment. It is not up to them to decide how much they get and how long they have to stay on the adult's lap)
