Whats up with the concessions this year? I've been to three games since the home opener, and I can see why attendance is slumping, in its current stage of disarray if I were to be a *first time* visitor, I don't know if I would want to make a return visit based on what I've seen my 3 times this year. A word of advice, eat before you head to the ballpark.

I Go to concessions to get a hot dog, "I'm sorry, we are out of hotdogs" but, I can buy a coke in a decent size cup. want a hamburger? you are out of luck, no hamburgers or cheeseburgers to be found anywhere this year.

Went to game on a Thirsty Thursday ($1 dogs & $1 drinks), order a coke, its in a mini-cup, order a beer, same mini-cup, I guess you pay less money, you get less beverage, go figure. Same thursday, go to get a hotdog, and once again, "I'm sorry, we are out of hotdogs". By the 6th inning they were out of hotdogs. Come on, if you know its $1 dogs, have more on hand. could it be the ballpark is setting limits on how many dogs to be sold at $1 and then telling patrons that all the dogs are gone?

Go to concessions for some peanuts, "I'm sorry, we're all out of peanuts today", OK, I'll try a pretzel, "I'm sorry, we are out of those too", you can try the other stand at the *other end* of the ballpark.

The seating areas have left a lot to be desired this year as well. Two of the three games my family and I attended, there was garbage by our seats from the night before that was never cleaned up wet napkins stuck to the seats and floor under the seats, empty popcorn boxes and food wrappers. I know we are only paying $8 a seat, nothing compared to the majors, but at least I'd like my family to sit down to a clean area, and not a garbage infested seating area that I have to clean up so that my family has a clean place to sit.

I will be at more games this year as the park is almost in my backyard, however, I do hope to see some improvements as the season goes on. So far I don't see any improvement over last years mess.

A concerned baseball fan and food critic.

You think this year is "bad", you should have gone last year when the food choices were so limited you didn't want to eat there! Each game I've been to this season (4 games) I've been very pleased with the concessions. I usually go to the stands along the first base concourse or the stand down in the right field corner and have not yet had a problem getting what I wanted. Try those areas. Possibly you'll get what you want. As far as the dirty seating area issue goes; that's news to me. Where I sit on the first base side(section M, last row) it's always clean. If you sat in the upper deck, try the lower deck next time! It's possible garbage blows into the upper deck making the conditions seem what you encountered. Cheetah fan-Seattle

Dear Anonymous Critic,

I'd love to sit here and tell you that you are wrong about the concessions, but I cannot. I am aware of all the situations you wrote about, and we are working with our catering company, Buona, to straighten these things out.

As far as us running out of hotdogs on purpose - come on.

As far as cleanliness, you are sure to encounter the occasional blowing napkin - if you come to your seat and it is "garbage infested," please ask a staff member to get me immediately, and I will refund your money. Cleanup is always a challenge in a public facility, and I think we are doing a pretty good job of keeping the place clean from one night to the next.

One point I will argue with you about is where you said attendance is "slumping." In fact, our attendance this season is up about 20 percent over last year through the same number of home dates.

Please, if you encounter these conditions during your next visit to Hawkinson Ford Field, find me and I will have them corrected for you.

I was at tonights game and can say that I did not notice any messes in the seating area. Could it have been that there was a double header such as today and maybe someone was sitting in your particular seats for a bit and then decided to move?

The food choices are adequate for a ballpark of this type, although I must admit that I'd love to see barbecue pork sandwiches or corn on the cob like the Cougars have, but each ballpark has its own choices to make. There were hamburgers at the tent with the american flag on it in the middle of the first base side along with brats, beef sandwiches and other food choices.

The fireworks were good as usual, the kids had fun running the bases, and the fanfare on the concourse was great for adults and kids alike, clowns with balloons, face painting, chances to win things like a trip to Las Vegas, T-shirts, and my favorite the Split the Pot tickets to win good ole cold hard cash, Im glad to see that back this year.

My next game is June 29th, until then, lets get some more winning games.
