What's up with James Rinne? He hasn't played much lately.

I have been wondering the same thing. Hopefully we will hear from someone who knows why James hasn't been playing.

I thought the team manager was once again not playing the better players and leaving them sit on the bench.

So much for the playoffs this year. The Cheetahs seem to go thru team managers like water these past years, hopefully we'll get one next year who can take us to the playoffs.

With the great players the Cheetahs have had this year, 2 players on the top 10 batting list, fourth place for overall batting, 2 pitchers in the top 10, and 1 player in the top 5 for homeruns there is no reason why they should not be in the playoffs other than they aren't being managed or coached the best that they could be.

I think managing a baseball team at any level is more difficult than people realize, particularly at this level where team chemistry is interrupted for all kinds of reasons, and where the makeup of your roster is restricted. All things considered,I think Dana Forsberg has done a good job with this team, particularly when you consider that he was thrust into the job a week into the season. A team pays its manager to decide which players give him the best chance to win a game. Sometimes players are hurt or hurting and fans don't necessarily know that, and sometimes a manager plays a hunch. In 1999, apparently it was Chico Walker's fault the team wasn't winning. In 2000 it was Ron LeFlore's. In 2001 fans blamed Chad Epperson. Sooner or later the organization has to recognize that what it needs is some degree of continuity on the field. This won't happen with players because of the design and structure of the league. Committing another year to a twenty-five year old manager who is a bright student of the game and has learned this league both as a player and a manager would be a good strategic start to a sound organizational plan. That's the key to long term success, which you would hope is the goal of any professional organization.

Response:
I wouldnt say he was thrust into the job, Dana and previous manager Chad lived together and played for previous teams together they were and are tight and I am sure it was no surprise to Dana that Chad was leaving.

Response:
Nothing personal but I disagree the current manager is too young, how can players who are the same age and older look up to a manager that was once their teammate and then took over managing and whom is the same age or younger than some of the players? I would guess some of the team might have become upset to see one of their peers take over management, without other players on the team being given that chance. What the Cheetahs need is an older more authoratative person to look up to maybe Carlos May could take over as manager. The other Frontier League teams seem to have a more mature managerial base, and I think the Cheetahs should follow suit.
