Somehow I KNEW Chico Walker's name would be thrown in there somewhere! :-)
I have no idea who will be the next manager - there's a lot of things to be settled after the season, including that area. There are already people interested, as tends to happen when an opening comes up, but it's way too early to make that decision.
Thank you for the kind words - obviously, one always hopes the day never comes when someone has to be let go. It shows that I didn't do my job in hiring, and it's disappointing to us all when the season is lost.
I also appreciate people not prying into the 'personal problem' aspect of this - only a couple of people mentioned it at the park tonight, and respected that these things remain in-house.
After tomorrow, we move ahead toward 2004 and we'll see what the off-season brings, in every aspect - staffing, players, managers, etc. Let's hope it's a good year.
On another note, anyone who is at the game tomorrow, please take the time to acknowledge Lindsey, Nathan, Pat, Erin, Jesse, Clubbie Mike, Jenny and Michael Conrad - these people worked far, far harder than anyone will ever know to hold the Cheetahs together this season. Some days were easy, and obviously many more were not. Everyone sees the players hustling and trying their best, but the people who work so hard to make this thing work are just as important.
See everyone at the park tomorrow, let's have fun with it!
