For more information regarding these or other programs and events, please stop by the Gurnee Park District registration office in Viking Park at 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, or at the Hunt Club Park Community Center at 920 Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, and pick up a brochure. Programs require registration in advance. The Park District regular office hours are 9:00 am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Dog Howl'oween Pet Walk,Costume Contest & Pet Expo Bring your furry friend out to Hunt Club Park on Saturday October 9, at 9:00 a.m. for a morning of dog-gone fun! Dogs and their owners will parade around in their best costumes on our ½ mile loop. Visit with local vendors and organizations about their services and products. Pet Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and judging will take place at 10:30 a.m. This event is free and for all ages. For more information go to www.gurneeparkdistrict.com or call 847-623-7788.

Halloween Trick or Treat Path- Kids ages 1-6 years old can trick or treat through Viking Park on Friday, October 15, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. There will be nearly 50 of their favorite friendly characters. Walk from "house to house" and get treats from Elmo, Winnie the Pooh, Sponge Bob, Mickey & Minnie, your favorite princesses and more. Refreshments will be available. Pre-register by Friday, October 8 and save $2 per registered child. Fee for pre-registration is $6.00 for residedent/$8.00 non residents. At the door $8.00 for residents/$10.00 non-residents. Park Board Election- Two seats on the five-member Gurnee Park District Board of Commissioners will be filled at the April 5, 2011 consolidated election. An individual interested in running for office must be a registered voter and a Gurnee Park District resident for at least one year prior to Election Day. Board positions are unpaid. Candidate materials are currently available and may be picked up at the Viking Park administrative office at 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. Gurnee Park District Farmers' Market. The Farmers' Market is open. The market is a thriving cultural marketplace where over 30 vendors sell their homespun, organic or one-of-a-kind foods, crafts and produce. Hours are from 8am-1pm every Friday through October 1st at Esper Petersen Park located at Grand Avenue and Kilbourne Road. Demonstrations, entertainment and special activities offered each week. Latin & Swing Dance Class- Learn to dance the Cha Cha and Rhumba, plus Swing. Have fun learning new dances and get a great workout too. Singles are welcome. Classes begin in October. To register go to www.gurneeparkdistrict.com or call 847-623-7788.

Happy Holi-Dance- Gain the confidence to dance like a star in this class. Focused on holiday dinner dance events, this class will teach the basics of Ballroom, Swing and Latin dances. Youth Basketball- Gurnee Park District is now accepting registration for Youth Basketball. The season will start the week of November 1. Practices and games take place at Hunt Club Community Center or a Woodland School facility. Register based on the night you want to practice. Games are on Saturdays. Make the Gurnee Park District your indoor swimming headquarters this year! Through a new agreement with the Special Education District of Lake County the Gurnee Park District will be expanding programming and services at Laremont Pool to 7 days a week. Gurnee Park District will be expanding programs at Laremont Pool this fall and will now be offering a variety of classes during the day for babies, toddlers, children, adults, and seniors. The Gurnee Park District will be expanding Public Swimming Options this fall at Laremont Pool including additional Family Swim Times, Toddler Open Swim, and Pool Rentals..
