Hi Ryan,
I'm a professional hairstylist and I have a young son who lives as a girl outside of school. I love doing boys hair in the prettiest styles, but I don't get the chance most of the time. I would suggest a book for your parents and with their permission you to read and discuss. It's been mentioned here already, but I'll bring it up again.
"Becoming Nicole" by Amy Ellis Nutt. I hear that it's being read in some middle and high schools. You can also Google Nicole Maines too. It's all safe, nothing bad, but really worth looking into. I'm not saying that you should go all the way with this at all, but just to have a good understanding of the girls who do. There's a lot of social challenges involved.

Becca
