@Michelle: I applaud you for accepting your daughter and not rejecting her as my parents did me. As a '90s teen the medical (if you can call it that) interest was centred on how to make me more "male" and my parents simply wouldn't listen to anyone who told them that my brain was female and I would always act and behave as a girl and that it coudn't be changed. Having an intersex condition only strengthened their resolve instead of dissuading them. I remember well when I had just turned thirteen my mother cutting my hair off and making me wear boys' jeans and telling me "it was time to grow up and act like a man." I'm amazed at how things have changed in the last few years. That's why I'm hopeful that kids growing up now won't have to face the severe discrimination and injustice that exists now when they become working adults.
