Aelita: I think we've been extremely fortunate in having a very supportive extended family and understanding school administers in our general area. My daughter has been accepted in our new school system in our requested "Deep stealth" mode and so far it's worked out excellently. Having a transgender child in our system now is no novelty to them and is working out very well. I also need to give much credit to the Lurie Children's Hospital and their pediatric transgender care team for so much understanding and professional help. Good help is now available these days, but unfortunately is very limited to large metropolitan areas. My hope now is that there can be a medical/surgical team who can competently perform the re assignment surgery locally. We've already come a long way since I was growing up in the 80s/90s era when things like this were very rarely spoken of. I have to admit for myself that I had never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever be going through this with my child, but here I am and I want to make everything right for her to have a very normal life as a awesome young woman.

Michelle S.
