Subject: Cross Cultural pragmatics

Dear Professor Katia,

Our work is concerned to discourse and context in language teaching, specific cross cultural pragmatics.
In the language knowledge, "Meaning" drive us to the study of vocabulary. Thus, cross cultural is how we see the language in different countries and its relationship, for example, in Japan jitswa means in English actually, and sumimasen = I´m sorry. These differences in meaning, can be seen in monolingual or bilingual dictionaries where the idea of cognates and false ones are presented. For example, Hand in German = Land in English. Gift meaning "poison" is the same as gift meaning present in English. This is the way langage behaves, sometimes using a discourse of collocation which is coherent and the discourse of cohesive,(cohesion in a lexical connection.Another lexical borrowing contribution comes from germanic, norman french, greek or hebrew. Appears as literal or figurative according to Lakoff & Johnson (1980).
Through the chapter I - introduction to Discourse Analyses, I observed different uses of words in pragmatic meanings that is the language used in contexts (widdowson). In this case, we also have to lead with misunderstandings for reconizing one word in relation to another one. Am I right? I hope to have your feedback soon.
