When the Allies landed in Normandy the Russians were already entering Berlin.
Hitler lost 3/4 of his armies and armaments in Russia with his failed invasion, which was the turning point of the war.
The allies could not have landed in Europe if the German Army was still at full strength.
In fact the Germans only offered nominal, weak resistance when the Allies landed in Europe. Their whole strength was facing the advancing Russian Army.

Even Hitler admitted that the defeat in Russia had put Germany on the defensive.
Many historians agree that the invasion of Russia was Hitler's biggest mistake.
I think that the Western Allies invaded Normandy in France because they were afraid that the Russians would overrun the whole of Europe after invading Germany.
In fact the whole of Eastern Europe had already fallen to the Russians on their advance on Berlin.

Our Western history books want to tell us that it was the Allies that freed Europe from the Nazis, when it was clear that it was Russia that defeated the Nazis.

It was the heroic stand of the Russian people and Army at Stalingrad that defeated the mighty German Army of one million men that changed the course of WW2 and history.

It was the first and biggest defeat for the German Army, after which the Russians advanced on Germany.
Hitler also lost thousands of tanks and thousands of aircraft in Russia, which left the Western front defenseless when the Allies invaded Normandy.

By far the biggest battles of WW2 were fought in Russia where armies of millions faced each other.. It also cost the Russians many lives.
