Most of Argentina will observe daylight saving time to save energy despite its rejection by some provinces. More events: International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17); Alaska Day (October 17 in 2008); Shmini Atzeret/Simchat Torah (sunset October 20); United Nations Day (October 24); the UN’s World Development Information Day (October 24); and Diwali, India (October 28). Don’t forget that Europe’s daylight saving time ends on October 26.
