More events: International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17); Alaska Day (October 17 in 2008); Shmini Atzeret/Simchat Torah (sunset October 20); United Nations Day (October 24); the UN’s World Development Information Day (October 24); and Diwali, India (October 28).
