let me tell you all that if you get a chance to go see slipknot in concert, do it! it is the best fucking visual experience in the world! i went to the "big day off fest" yesterday in manchester with my girlfriend and 2 of my friends. we waited in line for 5 hours in the 95 degree weather, but it was definatly
worth it! i got to see the singers from disturbed and linkin park really up close. they were about 3 feet away from me. i could've gotten david's (disturbed) autograph, but i didn't want to piss him off because he already had a crowd of people around him. now that i look back, i wish i did get his autograph.... oh well....

first off was the local band "the reconizers," which sounded like coal chamber wannabes. they were supposed to do a 45 minute set, but an unexpected spine shank (who wasn't on the bill) decided to come along and do an awesome half-an-hour set, so the reconizers only got to play for about 10 minutes.

after the spine shank set came the one and only mudvayne, which gave the best performance yet. they did a 45 minute set that included songs "dig," "death blooms," "cradle," & "nothing to gein," among others. during the spine shank set, the singer of mudvayne (kud) came out on the side of the stage and watched. he was wearing regular clothes and no face paint. it was cool to see what he really looks like.

next came linkin park which gave a pretty decent set. chester's mic wasn't working when the set started, so he started banging his mic on the stage and screaming. he finally got a mic that worked, and began the set. during that same song, he got up on the pa speakers and did a stage dive. they did a set that lasted a little more than an hour that included songs "crawling," "a place for my head," "papercut," "forgotten," and the ever-so-much overplayed "one step closer."

night was falling and the stage was now lit by multi-colored lights, instead of the sun. next on the bill was disturbed. they delivered an awesome set! i thought that they were going to be one of the less energetic and exciting bands of the night, but being the first band to use a stage set and lights, it brought a whole new experience into play. they played songs "voices," "shout2000," "stupify," "droppin' plates," "fear," & "down with the sickness," among a few others. the set lasted about an hour and a half. i have a new found respect for the boys of disturbed, they did an amazing job.

next came the band everyone was waiting for; slipknot. the whole stage was red (from the lights) and covered in fog with some weird music playing which gave it an eerie feeling. the members of slipknot came out one by one and got behind their instruments. they were wearing their black jumpsuits and of course their masks. they started off with a bang, literally; they were the only band to use pyro's all night. they did about an hour and a half set that included songs "eyeless," "liberate," "wait and bleed," & "spit it out." he asked the crowd to jump, sing, and flip him off several times during the night. they also played 4 new songs off of their new album. one called "disaster piece," which is more aggresive than anything on the 1st album. "heretic song" was another new one that got the crowd chanting 666! 666! 666! fucking awesome!!!! "new abortion," also a new one, was an aggresive tune that kept the crowd moshing. the other new song was nameless and consisted of only music. it was kickass! the members of slipknot left the stage, but soon came back for an encore and played "(sic)," and then ended it all with "america's new national fucking anthem" "surfacing." they ended in a boom (again) and left the stage, this time for good. they gave the best performance all night, hands down.
the venue, which is only supposed to hold 6000 people, was filled to the brim with an estimated 1200 people! double the venue limits! and on top of it all was the mosh pits! the mosh pits were absolutly brutal. everywhere you went there were people moshing. someone had to get taken away in an ambulance it got so bad! anyways, the concert fucking rocked. if slipknot come your way, go see them, you won't regret it.....
