Yeah, good drumkits can be very expensive, but they are worth the money. You can really tell the difference between a $600 drum kit, a $1000 kit, and a $2000 kit. My Export was $800 brand new; but I must say that it is worth the money. A Pearl Custom Masters Series (either MMX or MRX) would be really sweet, but I've seen those things go for like $4000-$5000 for a little 5-piece! I suppose it's worth it though if you want great quality and sound.

As far as the Zildjian Z Customs go, they are quite nice, but they are too loud for the kind of music I play. Don't get me wrong, I don't play pussy music, but I need medium weight cymbals for the quick response but that can take a punishment. The Sabians I have now (AAX) do just that. I have the medium weight ones, and they sound great with my set.
