Subject: Ok, so...Jennifer had the 2 kids walk their mounts as she started the lesson.

Joey pushed his heels down and gathered the reins. He was wearing paddock boots, a helmet with a blue helmet cover, a tee shirt and jeans. Sitting deep in the hunt seat saddle, the 5 year old urged the pony to pick up a trot. They skimmed around the ring while Justin walked Jackie in a circle. "No, move your hands and-" Jen broke off as she showed Justin the correct position, then moved him so that he was in the wrong position, then back into the right. "Feel the diffrence?" she asked, and he nodded. "Then show me wrong and right." Stepping back, Jen watched as he slumped fowards, toes down and hands up high, then he proudly displayed the correct way to sit. "Good job," Jenny praised, clipping the lunge line onto him. "I'm going to lunge you first and then Joey." She glanced over and saw her son posting on the wrong diagnoal (remember they are begginners). "Joey, sit 2 strides!" she called and he picked up the post in perfect rythm. "Good, now..." Loosening the lunge rein, she stepped back and clicked her tongue. The black Shetland mare strode out into a nice walk and Justin balenced perfectly. Jenny worked on posting and sitting the trot next. Cindy showed up to help her mom and took over Joey so he wouln't be bored. She lunged him at the end of the arena, making him walk, post, and hold 2 point. "My legs hurt!" Joey complained, dropping back into the saddle after 5 minutes of walking in 2 point. "Yeah, big deal, it's building muscle," Cindy explained. "Want to canter now?" She let out the lunge rein and Joey squeezed his small legs agienst Sunburst's sides. The pony flew into a quiet canter, and Cindy called out instructions. Meanwhile, Jen was pleased to find Justin easily posting to Jackie's light trot and even begging to canter. "I don't know..." she began doubtfully. "Maybe next time Justin." "But Joey gets to!" He looked wistfully at where Joey was happily cantering Sunny in circles. "Yes, but he's been riding longer-" Jennifer paused. "Ah, ok, just once around though." She talked to him for a second over how he should move, then stepped back and loosened the lunge rein. Jackie lept into a slow canter, hooves pounding over the arena. The black mare snorted and arched her silky neck, and the thick mane flew back. Justin looked scared and happy at the same time as Jennifer brought the small pony to a walk.
