Sorry if I appear stupid to you because I am from Mississippi. But I would like to remind you that crawfish are as much a part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast as Louisiana.
Don't forget how many times the Sea Wolves had to re-schedule or give up home ice advantage because of the "Crawfish Festival" taking place at the Biloxi Coliseum during play-off time.
Ever been to Pearlington, MS? I've been there when Old Hwy 90 was covered so deep in crawfish one had to drive very slowly to avoid sliding on all the innards. And also, one could stop on the roadside and pick up all the fresh crawfish they could handle!
But, you are right. Using mudbugs for a team name is a stupid idea because God forbid we should use a word that Louisiana owns.
Stupid, stupid me.
How about "Mississippi Rednecks" for a team name????
We could have a "Larry the Cable Guy" type mascot. He could wear a shirt with cut off sleeves, worn out jeans, spit tobacco juice on the ice, and fall on his butt all the time because no one here knows how to skate.
I realize this is a very open and opinionated forum, but no need for name-calling.
