Coast Hockey, LLC - Fan Face-Off
Welcome To Coast Hockey, LLC Fan Face-Off!

Several of my friends were having problems with another of the Mississippi Hockey message boards on here, so as per the suggestion of the moderator over there, I've created another board. I'm sure I'll be accused of "copy-catting" or the like, but I think it's important to be allowed one's opinions without such strict censorship. Just another option.
Obviously, I'll retain a right to delete posts of an excessively inflammatory nature, but the majority of contributions, despite my personal feelings about them, will be allowed and welcome.
It can become very dangerous to take away the voice of the people.

Now that THAT's out of the way, this is a board set up for the exchange of views and ideas by fans of the Coast Hockey, LLC Team of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
You all know what that entails. So, let's get started!

What is the deal over there? Are you all having the same problems? They censor everyone and don't let a debate runs its course. Effing pathetic. Bunch of sensitive babies. Fascist pricks. I don't know how they can feel okay with themselves. They've got this big, macho disclaimer warning everyone "ooooo don't come in here if you can't take it...ooooo" or something. But then when it comes down to it, she's got to filter through everything to see if it's acceptable to read. Adorable little infant eyes that might tear up if they read that they're wrong.
They blocked my IP address and removed all my posts. Now that moron is talking about how she shouldn't have let a post go as far as it did. WHAT?!
Like, she's regretful that she didn't take away people's voices SOONER? Tell people what they can read with a little less delay?!
At least here I can say I HATE everything you stand for and that I think the level of Totalitarian rule you put on your site should be criminal. Or tell someone they're wrong without having to mail in a damn band-aid and a little smooch to fix it right up.
Uh-oh - might be getting personal. Might need to censor me!! I might hurt a feeling!!

And this is just the (season) ticket:

Biloxi to join SPHL

Jim Combs, Commissioner of the Southern Professional Hockey League announced tonight that the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Board of Governors has received an application from an ownership group to operate an SPHL team in Biloxi Mississippi for the 2009-10 season.

The ownership group has secured a lease from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and is expected to receive final SPHL membership approval shortly pending formal review of their application by the Board of Governors.

Combs stated that “our league’s Governors are delighted about the opportunity to bring the SPHL’s brand of professional hockey to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.” The new Biloxi team will compete against returning SPHL members Fayetteville, Knoxville, Columbus and Huntsville.

Additionally, Combs advised that the SPHL is in active discussions with prospective ownership in Pensacola, Florida and other cities and expects to provide information on additional expansion over the next few weeks.

Combs stated that “while there is still work to be accomplished the Board of Governors is committed to expansion within our league’s geographical footprint within a time frame that allows new members the lead time to prepare for the
2009-10 season.

The SPHL “The Leader in Single “A” Hockey” is committed to providing our fans with ongoing innovation in all aspects of the game while providing the best of family friendly entertainment in all of our markets. Hey! I got an awesome shout-out last night from the announcer for Hershey.
He said something like, "And down in Long Beach, Mississippi, [C-A Peezy]'s listening with her family. And, [C], we told Bob you were listening last night, and he was really excited to hear it. Thanks again." Then the other guy said, like, "Long Beach, MS's about as far 'South Pennsylvania' as you're gonna get."
I feel like a little kid getting Barney's autograph or some crap.
AND they won to move on to the second round over Philly.
AND Washington beat New York to stay in it.
Mhmm. Good night last night.

This board started off fast and furious, which was something greatly needed. The other one was too censored and was very opinionated in a lop-sided way.
But there's been very few posts of late.
I know we don't have an active season right now, but we need to be posting info as we hear it.
What about what is going on in the ECHL Playoffs? Looks like there are some good games going on. I know Gwinnett has lost both of it's games to Florida so far. Are we at all surprised????
I LOVE this board. I visit every day and look forward to reading new posts.
So, toss some ideas out there! As well as any other ideas of things to discuss.

That mother-son team...the one running around pretending to know everyone's business and talking trash about everyone and lying through their teeth. My guess is that everyone knows who I'm talking about.
I wish they'd shut up...just shut their stupid, gossip mouths.
I mention this, because I'm assuming they'll see this while they're searching for all their 'inside' information that makes them so super-cool.
I'm hoping they'll see how at least one person feels about them. Nothing you're spewing out like it's first hand information is any of your damn business. Those players aren't your friends and knowing where the hell they ate dinner last night isn't 'hot-off-the-presses' news. Nobody cares what they said to who and when, what kind of toilet paper they use, or what color their boxer shorts are.
The fact that you do might be cause for some serious counselling.
If it weren't for social code, I would have long since told you both to keep your pathetic ploys for attention far away from me.
And that's what I think about that.
I'm interested to see if I'm alone in this.

Just curious.

And don't give me that crap about Washington.
I too, want to see Bruce Boudreau get a Stanley Cup.

Give your legitimate picks for the Playoffs.

I am a HUGE Penguins/Crosby/J. Staal fan(Not that I don't like the other Staal brothers, they just don't play for the Pens. hahahahaha) but I do realize that they might not have it all together to win it all.

I do like the Bruins for it all.
And as much as it pains me to admit it, I can see the Red Wings winning as well.

But I am still rooting for my Penguins all the way and think that they can do it.

When it's playoff time you just have to BELIEVE.

this is going to get me into a lot of trouble with the females.
But here goes: when we had a team that was mostly single guys, they hung together all the time, were tight, wild, and crazy, but played awesome hockey (half the time still drunk from the night before).
Now, most of the guys are married or have significant others living with them. I saw some petty stuff going on between the ladies, little cliques, some bickering, and as a result, I saw guys who used to get along great all off a sudden not get along. So, personal stuff is being brought to the ice.
I hate to say it, but ever since Eve bit that apple, when you have a gaggle of females involved, the brotherhood of men problems begin.
please don't shoot me. This is but one idiot's opinion.

We can't even turn it on for this game that we HAVE to win...against the team we'd be playing in the post-season. Maybe it's best we just don't win it.

I was hearing that someone was asking about a new message board over at the previously 'in charge' message board - so hopefully there will be some new additions over here.

I just wanted to return with a little bit about the boys not showing up at the after party Saturday.
It really was a show of how they feel about their fans. They've been sneaking out the back door all season and now they're just blatently blowing off the fans who are making the trip to see them somewhere they're ADVERTISED to be.
That business paid to have its name mentioned as the after-party location. They did that so that the players would bring in money and people/fans with more money. But they had far better things to do, like go to casinoes and get really, really drunk. It's okay with Walby, though, I'm sure. As there are no consequences for these guys and their bad or irresponsible behaviour.

Walbs' favourite word is "Conditioning", right? Followed very closely by "WhatcanIdo?"
Regardless, if we're soooo well conditioned that Menei wasn't conditioned ENOUGH when he got back, then WHY are we so sluggish in the third? We have to be at LEAST 6 goals ahead in the third to win, apparently.
Last night's game winner...was a really good shot, granted, but it didn't have to be. He was able to walk right in and take the game. When about 8 minutes before, we were ahead 2 goals (on the scoreboard).
Our defence was a lot better last night than it has been. (in regulation, anyway)
I'm really happy with this new guy, so far.
And our shots were even (within two, I think).
This is good news; let's see what we do on Sunday.

Date Posted: 06:57:04 01/25/09 Sun

I had just posted this over on the other board, but I wanted to share it over here, too. I'd never actually done the math before:

(in response to a note that asked what the benefits were of being a Season Ticket Holder if we don't get free parking, discounts on concessions, etc.)

I agree we should be allowed to exchange our unused tickets for the same day. For the same reason, I don't know who's coming until that day. And I'm building up quite a stack, and I'm worried I won't get them used.

I really like always knowing where I'm sitting. When I spread the word about a game, I can let people know where I'll be. So, that convenience is nice. Just for that, I'll keep getting them. (I also like having even one piece of merchandise that no one else has access to.)

And parking and concessions are a coliseum issue. The venue doesn't want the team there, so they're not going to make it any easier on us to BE there. What I'm saying is that if the team distributes some sort of voucher or coupon for either of those services, they'll have to pay for it. You paid a lot for your tickets, granted, but it's not enough to allow the team to just throw perks at you. It's a business. They can't put out what they don't take in.
But I think a lot of people - I know a lot of people are under the impression that the team itself took away the free parking and is setting the concession prices, but that isn't true.

For example, assume that the team decides to pay for STH parking. I don't know the exact number, but lets say it's about 1100 seats. On average, you can guess there are two people per car. That's $1650 a game in parking alone. (please don't argue that you ride with three other people, this is an assumption that most people are couples.)

Say those people buy about $6.50 in concessions at this game. If the discount were 10% (and my guess is that wouldn't be enough to keep people happy), the team's cost for that would be $715. ($1070 if 15%)

This is an addition of $2365-$2720 to a single game day's operation costs.
You understand that's 237-272 $10 seats they would be spending on perks. Per game.

I want to be clear, I agree we should get those things, but the team isn't able to give them to us.
Contact the coliseum with your complaints, but I guarantee Holmes will just see it as good news.

I just wanted to say that here, because...I think it shows that they recognize that they're doing something wrong...I hope.
I hope it doesn't mean, like...We did our part in scoring 5 goals; that should have been enough.
I doubt that, though.
We've got to start winning, though, no matter what they're thinking about why they're losing.

The problem with the team is injuries to key players. The team last year had more toughness than this year's version. This team has more talent but they need to step up the intensity. Also the fact that they have to travel so far is not helping. Look for them to turn it around real soon when they are home for all of February. Also they will be getting players back from injury as well.

It's gotta be hard playing defense and offense at the same time, am I right? In a game of brute force, you need some intimidation.
