You're so clueless. I haven't put any player on a pedestal, either. They're as much at fault as anyone else. I agree that they should have been out doing things in the community - at very least giving a crap about it.
Maybe the coach or president could have suggested it? Or made some form of community service mandatory?
Do me a favor, though. Go back and find where I said the players were flawless. I'm curious where you're getting this information. I'm not only trying to take them home, but now they're being idolized?

Good job bringing in so many people for the last two games, too. When tickets were $2 apiece it must have been a struggle. You'll advertise for that, right? Not to mention our Season Ticket Holder vouchers must have really raked in the money.
Getting people interested in the game at the end of the season must be a really proud accomplishment for everyone in the office.

I think we actually agree that the team played badly. Who knew? Like you said, it's because they weren't a team on the ice. What we don't agree on is the coach's level of responsibility in that. He can't force them to become cohesive, and I get that. But when the team is SO divided as it was during these "Walby Years", something's wrong.
But, if we're putting words in each other's mouths, I'm sure your "Precious" Walby did everything he could to create an atmosphere for the kind of unification the team needed. Through picking his four or five favorites and shoving the other guys under the rug (especially, especially in net), he probably really made everyone want to work better together. Let these guys walk all over him and expect results. He's not a good coach, but that's not to say I wouldn't like to keep him around doing SOMETHING with the team. But it can't be in the same capacity. No one else gets two years to try to get better at his job. (Not talking about AIG CEOs or Meteorologists.)
