"I don't know much about Southern Hospitality, though. I guess I don't know why that would include the after-game gatherings"

Taking a moment to chat kindly with people you do or don't know, or strangers one runs into in public (standing in line at Wal Mart, for example), automatically and without thinking about it helping an elderly or handicapped person open a door or reach something on a high shelf is a form of Southern Hospitality. No one can really define Southern Hospitality. One just has to experience it to recognize it. Just look and listen. You'll find it all around you if you look for it.

My husband was also a small time tv celebrity of sorts in one place we lived. We very much enjoyed having strangers come up to us and chat. Not to be big-headed about it, but just to be friendly. We met a lot of new people that way and made lasting friendships through those encounters.
As for talking to players and their families- the players we know seem to like to chat with us and their family members we've met have always been quite happy to see and talk with us when they return.
And let's chill on the debate over this issue, ok? It's really not that big of a deal. We just have different opinions about it, is all.
This GRITS knows when to quit.

You have a great day, ok? (That's a Southern expression, too)
