I've come to agree with you. I have spent quite a long time believing that the fights were just a lack of self-control and unnecessary penalty minutes.
And I still think that a player who's ONLY skill is fighting isn't as valuable as a good defenceman, but one of our guys this season said, "They're going to keep doing it until we get an enforcer to teach them not to." regarding being bullied all night.
I've even caught myself thinking, "Someone should beat that guys ass for that.", you know?
So, I see it's place.
But I don't think any of our guys this season are bruiser material...none that aren't at home nursing a broken leg, anyway.
