Subject: Summary - Char Bar


Char Bar is an African-American who decided to look for her ancestors. Her family began years back during the slavery time and she couldn’t find their names so easily because it was hard to slaves to leave their track. They were always sent to the places their owner told them and their names used to change and, after the Civil War, many of them had their documents destroyed.
Although she knew it would be hard to find her ancestors, she didn’t give up and started putting some oral stories together, then, she decided to look for written registers.
She could find some information that led her to the documents of some slaves and even found out the price that was paid for some of her ancestors.
It was a great experience that she went through and she felt happy to be able to look back and find part of her own history.
