The Holy Week of São João del Rei is one of the most beautiful in Brazil. Because preserved old features like the music of baroque orchestras as Bastos’ Ribeiro and Sanjoanense’s Lira that enhance the main ceremonies.

São João del – Rei’s Holy Week is the only event in Brazil to preserve ancient traditions such as Latin is used during the conduct of ceremonies in the Cathedral of the Pillar, keeping alive the Letter of Darkness and a single case throughout the Catholic Church. In addition there are workshops and exhibition of traditional carpets of the street.
