Subject: A brief synopsis of the December city council meeting

First item on the agenda of importance was to allow the sale of alcohol at the new chinese restaurant. It passed by 4-1 vote.

Next item was to incorporate the property next to the bus barn on Churchill which has been purchased by CISD. For those who don't remember this property is in Fort Worth. It was the house that burned down. 3 of our officers went to this burning house and saved an elderly man's life.

Now for the item of concern on the agenda: Apparently for the third time in not too many years the council wants to re-do some of our charter amendments. For those who don't remember several years ago council brought several charter amendments to the election. they were shot down. Four years later they brought some by up and they passed. An item which I will discuss later. Nothing was mentioned on what changes to consider other than the mayor stating that there should be a commission to pick the fire chief instead of the good ole boy system (his words not mine). At present the mayor and council pick and vote on the position. the other item charter amendment change the mayor mentioned at this meeting was to change the election laws so that if some stepped down for council the mayor could appoint the replacement instead of having a special election. More later.
