Author: River Oaks Reporter
Subject: Synopsis of River Oaks City Council Meeting March 12, 2019

The meeting started on time. All members present.

First item was approval of the consent agenda.

Next item was a presentation by HA5. This company sells a road coating which is suppose to extend the life of new streets. We used to re-coat our streets, but quit awhile back. This coating doesn't throw the rocks and tar on your car like the old coatings. No action was taken at this time to test or use this product.

Next item was the 2017-2018 fiscal year audit report by William Spores. I won't bore you will all the numbers other than we still have over a million in our rainy day fund. Council approved his report.

Next item was to consider a traffic pattern change at the intersection of Merritt and River Oaks Blvd. Chief Spieldenner wants to take the left turning lane on south Merritt and make it left and straight and take the current straight lane and make it right turn only. The mayor stated that TxDot has denied this in the past because there are three lights at the intersection. The chief is going to investigate this further.

Council approved allowing the City of Fort Worth to take the lead on right of way or acquisitions of land if needed for the Meandering Road Project. Councilman Ashton wanted the city to keep the right of review on the final plans and any eminent domain issues. The mayor stated there would be meetings and the citizens would have input on the final design.

Council approved allowing the sale of beer or wine at 5001 River Oaks Blvd.

Council left open the digital sign request by Kris Franks. There seems to be a mix-up in the size of the sign. He wants to put a digital sign on top of this building where the existing square of concrete sits. This building is the one that used to be Jessie's Donuts.

Council approved Ordinance 1223-2019 amending the regulation of feeding stray or feral animals. This was Chief Spieldenner taking several ordinances and cleaning them up into one enforceable ordinance. As it stands today, if you feed stray animals more than 72 hours they are now considered your responsibility.

Meeting Adjourned.
