This is just an idea to try and deal with the on street parking on our narrow streets. The city will be tearing the roads up anyway so what a perfect time to deal with this situation. In the case of moving the curb back between approaches...yes it would be the city.

In the case of doing a cut out like on Bailey, the homeowner would pay for it but that is by the homeowner choice not the city. No different if the homeowner decided to widen his driveway to accommodate their cars.

Let me let you in on a little inside baseball on what is going on in our city. At council meetings it was stated by the city engineer that in the original plans for the new water lines it was not added to run new diagonal lines from the new water pipe to your meter which would add greatly to the project. So that would take up the savings we thought we might get for replacing the roads. this turned into quite a discussion between the engineer and council resulting in the forming of a special committee to deal with this added expense. So in your future there may be a major bond election to pay to finish our streets and our water lines anyway.

If the city decides our residents need side walks the residents will pay for it whether they like it or not. The mayor has stated in the past that if side walks were to go in it would be the residents who pay for it not the city because it their personal property. Don't know how that can be since it's city right of way anyway.
