Subject: New Year's Eve in Scotland - Sounds like Fun!!!

December 31, 2001 Edinburgh, Scotland
http://www.edinburghshogmanay.org/

Edinburgh's Hogmanay is the Scottish New Year, celebrated on December 31st every year.

Never being slow to spot a good excuse for a party, the night involves a celebratory drink or two, fireworks and the kissing of complete strangers - not necessarily in that order.

The First Foot is one of the many interesting traditions for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay. First Footing is an age-old Scottish tradition which brings together friends, relatives, visitors and strangers to share the fun of New Year celebrations.

Scots want the first person who crosses their threshold in the new year to be a dark haired person who brings coal, salt, and a bottle of whiskey - symbols of warmth, food, and merriment for the upcoming year.

The full program is not available yet, so check the website often for updates.

Nancy
