Professor Yuri Bandazhevsky has just been released.

CRIIRAD phoned last saturday morning (06 august 2005) Doctor Galina Bandazhevskaya, Professor Bandazhevsky's wife, as it is usual since several months.

To our greatest surprise, it was Professor Bandazhevsky himself who answered :

" I am free since yesterday evening, this is great news, you are the first to learn it, even my wife is not yet informed as she went to visit her mother yesterday. I would like you to be the first to spread these news to the whole world and to all those who have helped me. Thank you, thank you, thank you, our paths are crossing each other for building up CRIIRAD-Bandazhevsky laboratory at Minsk. The scientific research is all my life, together we will achieve it."

Professor Youri Bandazhevsky was in relegation since the end of May 2004 after having purged several years of prison. He does not have yet the authorization to travel. It is important for him to find again his means of research for studying the pathological effects of chronic incorporations of radioactive products and to install a biomedical laboratory in Belarus, the country the most severly touched by Chernobyl disaster fallouts.

He remained in prison because he did not want to yield in his combat for the scientific truth on the health consequences of Chernobyl; we have the chance that he survived: our purpose is now to build with him the CRIIRAD-Bandazhevsky laboratory (cf. http://www.criirad.org ).
