Newborn life replacing all of us Changing this fable we live in No longer needed here So where do we go? Will you take a journey tonight... Follow me past the walls of death? But girl, what if there is no eternal life? ________________________________________________ He'd fucked up, he knew he had when he say the tension in his son's shoulders. It was a bad move to lose the restraint on his emotions, but Goddamn, the shock has gotten the best of him. No, the would didn't look horrible...a flesh wound, like he'd said. But the concept of what could have happened wasn't lost on him. There was vital shit in the vicinity, and what would have happened if the asshole that had plunged the blade had gotten just a tad luckier? God forbid, he could have lost the boy so soon after finding him again. Never a man that was good with emotions--especially those of the warm fuzzy variety--he found himself torn. In truth, he wanted walk over the boy and hug him, if only reaffirm the fact that he really was okay. On the other hand, he wasn't all that sure the boy would take to it very well--and then, there was always the chance of someone who didn't know they were father and son driving by and making something out of it. In the end, it turned out he didn't give a shit what strangers thought of him, and while he did give a shit about how El felt about things, he figured the boy was just gonna have to deal with things. He owned him a damn hug after more or less jackin' his ride. So, he wrapped muscled arms around his son...if a little awkwardly. It was pretty obvious he wasn't used to this kinda thing. The hug was brief but the meaning was there, nonetheless. "I don't like to think about what woulda happened if that blade woulda ended up a few inches left or right." He said said after a minute. "Don't like to think of havin' gotten a chance to get to know you again only to get it taken away. Listen...you hear of any of those bastards back in town...you let me know. You had your turn, and I want a piece." He said, giving a little smirk. |
