Hey buddy how you doing? As you can see we didn't let the bigger size opposing team get us down and we SPANKED THEM 55-13 on their field.
It was great getting my second and third TD's of my career. I got embarrassed before my last TD by Coach when he wanted to try a new play for me and I got over anxious twice making penalty offsides. Got screamed at, not a big scolding, to "cool my jets a knotch down!" Geeze! Both team and entire stadium heard this.
Probably a radio audience to, as our local radio station which broadcasts our home games decided to go on the road and broadcast this game, so you know announcers made some comment about me.
Before the game the station found out about our prayer and dedicating our game playing ability to try to win game for team member John's grandpa recovering for heart attack/surgery. At halftime they wanted John to comment on the air how grandpa was doing in pressbox. John didn't want to go alone so asked for someone to go with him. Kyle volunteers me, "let Joel go. He likes the media attention." So off John and I go. Get to pressbox and we are introduced on the air, John tells about how it was my idea to dedicate game in grandpa's honor. Surprise by station, they called the hospital and "hooked" grandpa up on phone on the air to talk in broadcast. He had been listening to game on radio. John and I almost lost it on the air, emotions trying to talk, after hearing doctors expect him to recover. Grandpa yelling: "you boys continue to kick butt, there on the field!"
I had to regain my composure when an announcer started asking "what kind of a season are we expecting, etc." I didn't know what to say. I said, "We'd like to win our league championship, have one win to our credit already and looks like a second one, maybe on the way. We take one game at a time," Grandpa yells on the air, "that's because they aren't afraid to take on bigger teams, and kick their butts like they are doing now!" I see had better end the interview and say, "I think coach wants us back to the fieldhouse for halftime instructions." We got out of there in a hurry and told grandpa to keep cheering and we'll see him soon."
I told Kyle later, "thanks for volunteering me."
Steve, I thought I did pretty good when I had to get the two bare butt swats, butt was still "tender" from the paddling Kyle and I gave each other earlier in week for us being "bad boys". We were able to find an empty nearby building to have me, Sean and John get them at. Did a little butt rubbing and time in showers helped, but got the fishing derby this weekend with Kyle and Luke, hope I don't lose and have to provide a bare butt again to pay-off. About time I get a chance to do some "collecting" right? I know I shouldn't complain. Gotta get off here, Kyle wants a turn before we leave for campout. Talk to you next week, most likely after Kyle and I have our first day of school as seniors. Won't that be a neat thing to remember in our lives? YEAH!
