Hey Luke, that's cool that you want to help Joel & be there as a brother for him. Well, Dear Abby/Luke, what's your experience understanding girls? If you got wisdom in that area, share with me dude, cause I still don't understand girls fully & I've gotten myself engaged.

>I don't want Joel to get hurt, his feelings that is,

Feelings get hurt sometimes & even face slaps resolve. If mom/dad ever slapped yours or later a girl does, you'll see how you bounce back.

>Joel has been talking/wondering if he should drop
>Holly, who hasn't returned calls he's made to her to
>see her and maybe explain that they should not see
>each other for awhile, because he'd like to see/date
>Lore if she will have him, which she seems to because

>"cheer" Joel on and see him afterwards, etc.

At 18 (or even you Luke at 17) Joel doesn't need to go steady yet or be a one-girl guy. He may be good at 1st base but Joel (you too) need to keep options open & play 'the field'.

Joel, if you like Lori & want to ask her out on a date or phone and talk...do it. As you told Holly, she doesn't own you. If Holly calls, talk to her & if you want a date, do it. You are apparently an admired & athletically talented young man & will find more girls attracted to you & you likely to them. These are your best years dude so live them. Not saying you would...but just remember to keep your hands in appropriate places & your 'jewels' wrapped & fly zipped & you'll stay out of trouble with your dad, her dad & police and enjoy your young adulthood fully.
