Subject: Joel's Dad Threatens to Paddle Him For Drug Use

If you know about me from the forum, you know that Dec. 6, 2009 my dad gave me my FIRST paddling of my life. Before that my dad had never spanked me growing up.

If you've followed my high school sports career in this forum you will know that I DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE USE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS and WOULD NEVER TAKE THEM!
Besides, our school checks us athletes on teams we play on, before and during a season without notice, so if a player was doing something illegal with drugs then they would be discovered, kicked-off the team and probably kicked-out of school and reported to authorities.

I've told my dad I would I would NEVER use/take drugs, etc. and he has always believed me.
In baseball I believe I have been given the gift, besides working hard on learning, to hit alot of homeruns throughout my playing years in school. I' ve NEVER taken any drugs to increase my ability to do so. I just learned to swing at the right pitch to hit homeruns in school baseball.
This past week former pro baseball player Mark McGwire of the St. Louis Cardinals admitted that during his playing career that he used drugs/took steroids to help him hit record-setting homeruns.
My dad always admired him, still does; and tried to show me when I was a little, little kid that I could maybe do something like that when I growed up, if I worked hard at it. I can kind of remember watching on TV Mark McWire hit homeruns.
When my dad learned about Mark McGwire's drug use he decided to have a father/son "talk" with me a few days ago to remind me about the evils of wrongdoings of using illegal drugs, and its stupid to try to use them to help a baseball player improve his playing ability, and batting ability to hit homeruns or other basehits to help his team win games.
I told my dad I agreed with him, about what he said. And I told him, and reminded him, that I would NEVER take illegal drugs to improve my playing ability in high school baseball and hitting homeruns or other hits I would get while playing that would help me set batting records or help my team win games.
I was then told by my dad, "that's good to hear, Joel. Because if I ever hear about you or I am told about you using illegal drugs at all, whether you are playing sports or not, or playing baseball and hitting homeruns using drugs, I will personally bare your little ass, put you over my knee and paddle your ass until its smoking to teach you a lesson, out of the love I have for you as my son."
I told my dad, "Out of the love I have for you, and respect for the game of baseball, you will never have to give me a paddling like you just described to me."

I asked my dad what brought this on? Was it more then Mark McWire admitting to using illegal drugs or was it because back in November 2009 my grandpa, my dad's father, had given me a bare butt whipping with a razor strap to fore warn me about not to use illegal drugs, because he had read and heard about teenagers and athletes of today doing so, and to make sure I was not one of them messing around with drugs now or in the future. (You can read about a separete POST else where in this forum, about JOEL'S GRANDPA GIVES HIM A RAZOR STRAP WHIPPING), and that my dad felt guilty that his dad had taken advantage of me?
My dad told me he just wanted to make sure, and out of love for me, to remind me not to take or use illegal drugs or use drugs when I play baseball, like Mark McWire did when he played baseball.
Anyone care to comment about this? Does anyone see anything more then a father's love and concern for his son?
