You are right, dude, a guy getting his ass blistered now and then from his dad is common sense and expected by a dad to give his son. As to why parents think they haveto follow child/parenting books to raise a kid is beyond me.
Yeah, sounds like you and Rick turned out, okay! For sure, and look at you as two successful businessmen, too.
I hope I can be as successful as you guys when I'm done with college.

I like your choice of words, dude. The bond I Have with my dad hasn't hurt me, except my ass for a few hours until it cools down.
Thinking back, Joel wasn't all that quiet while he was getting paddled. He wasn't screaming for his dad to stop hitting his ass, but I remember a few ouchs like in his voice, etc.
What would have been worth it would have been able to watch him get the paddling, but us buds knew that it should be a dad/son even. Too bad there wasn't a key-hole in the door. Had there been, then us three dudes would have been shuffling to earn the spot off and on.
The pay-off was being able to see Joel's dad's finished work and never having paddled Joel before, he sure knew how to make Joel's ass red from the licks he gave.
It was like looking at two little white/red mounds when Joel let us look at his ass later on, in the mirror and without the mirror he was trying to look over his shoulders, etc.
When you got some ass paddlings growing up, you and Rick I bet sure admired each others paddled butt and laughed it off right?
Speaking of laughs, the gut-buster was after Joel bared his ass and he was trying to tell his dad how to paddle him-just because his dad never did it before. Now what was funny, I'm afraid and even Joel will laugh at that!
