IN MY DAUGHTER'S DEFENSE. This is Stacy. Yes I am a little disappointed in how Authentic TV/TLC chose to portray my daughter, especially at the end. Please let me clarify a few things.
1. As far as all the interviews, they made all of us answer in full sentences as everyone on the show is asked to do. We were told the interviwer would never be shown so we had to answer in full sentences. This is very awkward and most takes were taken over and over again.
2. As far as the Madison/ Tootie double personality thing, the crew MADE her do that. When she told them that the kids at her school this school year had no idea she does pageant, they were like hmm "kinda like Hannah Montana" They kept that going and many retakes were done because WE kept forgetting. Anyone can ask my friends after day one filming (14 hours to be exact) if that is not what I told them was so odd. She is ALWAYS Tootie to me and there is not TWO personalities!! I myself find that odd.
3. They have hours of her being "good/normal" with her 2 siblings, friends, me, her dad that they chose to not use. Madison has NEVER been in trouble at school/church/soccer/cheer or any other function. Where is where she won "Student of the Quarter" with a long discussion of how it is super hard to earn, etc? Maybe it was too NORMAL/SWEET???? Where is she playing and holding Jaden/Talin/Kaylee or playing Ring around the Rosie with the kids at crowning? Maybe too NORMAL/SWEET?? Where is she with her best friend Abbie playing baby dolls and sharing them with the little girls? Maybe too SWEET/NORMAL? Where is she Cheering her friends on? Maybe too SWEET/NORMAL? Where is she talking about how she loves her h/m ladies and her photographers? Maybe too SWEET/NORMAL? Where is she when she talks about how she Loves Dallas and glad Dallas won the puppy for her division? Maybe too SWEET/NORMAL? Where is she talking about how she likes Ms Janie and Devin? Maybe too SWEET/NORMAL? We are talking 4 days of coverage here.
4. As far as being sad after crowning (that was taped in an adjoining room by herself at 1130pm), yes she wanted the puppy. What CHILD don't want a puppy? As far as "I dont care about them" regarding her competition, number one that was pulled from her- 3 times she was asked that-why?? To try to get a remark.. I have always told her to "Focus on yourself, not what someone else can do/or is doing while on stage".
5. As far as the comment about "You can't win all the time, unless you're Tootie" the rest of her sentence was "well a lot of the time. She joked alot and they LOVED the "Tootie" thing. This crew played with her, one guy did the coffee grinder, they fished with her, they EARNED her trust and they picked and teased a lot of stuff they thought was funny or "made good TV".
6. Tootie is very hard on herself and yes she strives to win the top. What child doesn't? It is call competition. Yes, her dad is very competitive and she gets it from him. Of course, I like for her to win too, what mom doesn't want her child to win after so much is put into it?
NOW beleive what you want. I know my daughter is sweet/sassy and I KNOW this show singled her out the be the "brat" and she was rewarded by them for it. Ask any of my friends/roommates if this is not so. Thanks to all that have supported us.
