Subject: Outlaw Pageant

My honest thoughts on the Outlaw Pageant & "Pageant Moms"---Not a bash, justmy observations! -- No name, 18:18:32 09/12/09 Sat [10]
AS I watched the show I was HORRIFIED watching Haley Blakenship and her mom! What is with the SERIOUS ATTITUDE PROBLEM?!? Why do some PM's think it is a good thing for their DD to be a spoiled brat! NEWS FLASH: THAT IS NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF!!! Natural Haley is UNRECOGNIZABLE from Glitz Haley! But what horrified me the most was mother & daughters attitude! Clearly they were not as bad as Tootie, but still...Moms: if you act like that what are you teaching your child??? Is winning a crown more important than teaching your DD a VALUABLE lesson about sportsmanship? Why do some girls(and their moms) feel like they should automatically win Supreme? Girls should be thrilled and surprised when they win GS and gracious when they don't. Pageants are supposed to be fun! I know we all want our DD to win, but it is not a life or death matter. As parents it is our job to TEACH our DD's that what is important is trying your hardest, having fun and being a good sport!
I am not connected to the outlaw pageant or it's contestants in ANY WAY. I enjoy watching T&T. Some of the mom's like Isabella's and Jayden Milian(spelling?) have been great example of PM's. I personally have met MANY wonderful PM's with their children's best interests at heart. BUT too, too many(like Haley's Mom) are the WORST examples of PM's. I feel TRULY sorry for Haley and children in similar situations. What a sad life for a child to lead. These moms seem to have convinced themselves that their DD winning Grand Supreme means EVERYTHING and is worth doing ANYTHING for! I cannot for the life of me understand this attitude. Or what type of pathetic person depends on their child winning a pageant for self-validation. Seriously, grow up. This should be a FUN activity for your child WIN OR LOSE!!! I am so sick of seeing nerve racked moms watching their DD's on stage, TERRIFIED their child will make a mistake that will cost them the crown. Do you really think that won't affect your DD? Moms should be upbeat and encouraging their DD to have fun and do her best! While she is up on stage just enjoy watching her have fun and let her enjoy HER moment in the spotlight. MOMS: WHEN YOUR DD IS UP ONSTAGE IT IS ABOUT HER, NOT YOU!!!!! And I am sick of moms pointing out their DD's mistakes the MINUTE they come off the stage. Instead of pointing out the bad, tell her you are proud of her for trying her hardest and point out something she did WELL!!!! Why in the world would a mother want to tear her child down!?! Build your DD up with PRAISE and always let her know you are proud of her!!! And last but certainly not least, STOP rewarding kids for bad behavior!! I cannot remember their names right now, but the sisters in the beginning of this season who competed in the same age division. The one the mom favored was a total BRAT and misbehaving and the dad did not let her participate in crowning. I APPLAUD that father for having the common sense so many seem to lack these days! Good job being a parent above all else!!When you repeatedly reward children for bad behavior you do PERMANENT damage. The world is not going to excuse their bad behavior just because they are a former child beauty queen. Maybe if Haley's mom, and the ones just like her, could follow these common sense rules their DD's would have a shot at a HAPPY childhood & adulthood. Relationships are give and take and in life there will always be standards for behavior. Better are DD's learn that important lesson now from the people who love them, then later on, out in the sometimes cruel, real world. On a more positive note, I was cheering for Isabella! Although she was not the glitziest, she was still spectacular! Isabella and her mom are FABULOUS examples! If only more moms could be like hers! I just wish more moms would be concerned with being good parents instead of winning!
