No, I didn't get a new camera. It's the same old crappy one. I have to take 100 pictures to get a handful of good ones--if only those dogs would just stay still!
Bear hasn't actually tried to swim yet. I was trying to find a place this summer where we could both go in the water so I can get him swimming, but no luck. I guess I'm too picky about where I'll go in the water!

I'm sorry you can't see the pics, Jenny. I will resize them. For some reason I thought when you did it with photobucket they automatically resized, but now I see that you can manually resize them.

You know, it's hard for me to really assess how he is doing because I find myself always comparing him to Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea is very fit and extremely agile. She is also very compact in comparison to him. And of course I know nothing about movement in any dog, let alone a Boerboel. Bear still has a bunny hop when he runs. I also never have to cut his back toenails because they are so worn down--he does tend to drag them a bit on walks. If he's trotting, his rear bounces up and down like he's barely putting weight on it. He bears a lot of weight on his front and it was hard for him to learn to give a paw because he would fall over. He's really not able to jump on my bed or couch unless he gets a good running start, otherwise he uses his strong upper body to pull himself up and then swings his rear legs over. He is also slow to get up from a lying position and again just uses his upper body to lift himself. I always have to lift him into the back of my SUV and I help him down because I don't want him jumping at this age. The vet gave me some Rimadyl after the xrays because he said he'd be sore after all that hip manipulation. I gave him a dose that night and one the next morning. Well, don't you know that afternoon he was able to jump into the back of my SUV, I didn't even lure him with food! So that is making me wonder if pain, in addition to his hip joint conformation is limiting him also. He does run. When you see the pics, in one of them he is chasing after Pea. I let him go at his own pace. We take leash walks daily, but when he is off leash, which is most of the time, I let him run if he wants.

I am hoping the canine physical therapist will better be able to assess what is going on. Apparently she also assesses puppies structurally for breeders to determine which will be best suited for conformation, show and working/performance homes. She sounds like she really knows her stuff and just maybe we can avoid another surgery. But when the vet emailed me his xrays, I really was surprised how bad his hips still look.
