I can only suggest Diamonds or other very expensive trinkets to replace the lost items. Tell her you sold them to buy this wonderful gift that you know she will just love! Make sure the pieces of the chewed items are well hidden though, or the price tag will go even higher for the gifts!

Alternatively...

Come clean and tell the truth whilst on hands and knees with Bomani looking terribly sorrowful and insist that he doesn't get any pocket money until the item is replaced. I don't suggest he brings flowers from your own garden though as that will only add to the trauma! Expect to receive words of encouragement such as... "Your bloody dog" and "I knew that dog would be trouble" and "you think more of that dog than me" etc etc. This is the female way of venting their displeasure, mostly it isn't meant to be taken badly, just a means of expressing anger, loss and a sense of humour failure!

If all else fails, grovel for weeks, bring copious cups of tea, take out to expensive restaurant and cower in the corner until the storm has passed.

Good luck!
