So sorry to hear about Lulu. I'm sure it hard seeing your baby girl like that, just when you think she's over the hurdle. I hope she's feeling better soon.

It's never dull at your place is it? Those dogs are always keeping you on your toes!

I had an incident with Pea this week. I was making dinner and had some stuff out on the counter. When I came inside from grilling I knew I was missing something and thought for sure I had something else to have with dinner, but didn't see anything out. (The night shift kills brain cells, I usually can't think straight after working!) Then it struck me, the corn on the cob! Of course I knew to go right to Sweet Pea's crate and there she was with corn flying everywhere finishing off her last corn cob. I'm sure you all know that a Boerboel with corn on the cob just doesn't politely nibble the corn off the cob, they eat the whole thing! I climbed in her crate and pulled the last chunk of corn cob out of her mouth, but she'd already eaten 3 plus the plastic bag they were in. Over the next few days I actually had to scoop poop out of the yard because my professional poo scooper (my son) was away. I didn't notice much corn making it's way out. Everything seemed fine until 4 days after the corn incident. She was acting weird, very anxious and I attributed it to her nerves. Later I heard her vomiting and found that she had explosive diarrhea on my living room carpet and vomited undigested food from the morning and a chunk of corn cob. I knew she must have been feeling terrible because she would never go in the house since she was house broken. I was able to get her to the vet right before they closed and he was concerned and wanted to keep her overnight and do xrays. He was concerned about an obstruction and said he's had to surgically remove corn cobs from dogs several times. He also said bloat could be a concern.

Given her current state with her fear issues I felt it was best if I just watched her at home overnight. So she slept in my bed and of course we couldn't leave Bear out too, so we just had a big slumber party. I was up every two hours assessing her belly and giving her snuggles. Yes, I know, I'm a worry wort. She didn't have anymore vomiting or diarrhea so she said we can hold off on the xrays. The chunk she vomited could have been what was obstructing things. He said to watch her for the next few weeks because he's had corn cobs hang around for up to a month and if she has anymore vomiting or diarrhea, we should work her up. Damn dogs!!
