Subject: Not the best day I've ever had!

Hi all,
We've not had a good day today. Lulu has suddenly taken a turn for the worse. She finished her 7 week course of antibiotics for her spine infection 3 days ago and this morning her temperature went over 40C and she was a very sick dog. We rushed her to our emergency vet who thinks it is too coincidental for it to be anything other than the original infection flaring up again. She is not well at all and is lethargic, won't eat, has to be forced to drink and doesn't want to move at all. She is shaking and trembling with the pain and high temperature. So it's back on the meds for another two months at least and hope that she can fight her way back again.

Then...

To add to my woes, while we were doing the puppy temperament testing today at 49 days old, one of the babies got stung in the eye by a bee. Poor little mite has a very swollen eye, but doesn't seem to have any effects other than the swelling and a closed up eye.

Then...

A huge palm leaf, not a small frond, but a branch weighing over 30kg fell in one of the dog runs in the strong wind and sent Minty into a frenzy! He will never forgive palm trees now and in his madness hurt his back leg! He recovered once he could help remove the branch and watched it safely hurled over the fence! I don't think he's done anything serious, just attention seeking probably! But it gives me something else to worry about.

I have now put everyone to bed to save more disasters!

This week we are doing puppy health checks, first vaccinations and deworming (again). I can't wait!

How was everyone else's weekend?

Jenny
