You guys in the states had a bunch of Pilot whales beach themselves recently. This happens in the land of oz also ... we even had two Humpbacks mating inside Sydney Harbour earlier this month.

No-one seems to know why whales beach themselves .... i had a thought the other day.... i have no evidence nor will I force the view ... just wondering what people thought.

If ... we came out of the sea and became mammals with some of us going back to become whales and dolphins or if infact mammals emerged from the sea ... there is a connection between them and us! ... afterall we're both tetrapods.

There is an affinity .... we don't fear each other.... infact we're very friendly.

Is beaching part of the evolution of us before our very eyes!

... is beaching how we got started....long ago a few of us made it ... and whales today are still trying en masse

... conversely just about all of us are facinated by the sea ... some so much that we have developed the ability to explore it's depths.

we want to be fish (for some of the time at least) and they want to get on the land.... thus they beach themselves!
